Its embarrasing to be human sometimes, the things we are responsible for...
I could rant on that for a while, but I won't (in this post anyway). Instead, here are some quick ways to remove as many pesticides as possible from your produce. It beats a couple seconds under cold water by far.
This article led me to write this quick post:
Quick tip for washing your produce (esp. if not organic):
1. Use equal parts of vinegar and water.
2. Baking soda, lemon juice, and water.
3. Vinegar and baking soda, and guess what, water!
4. Baking soda and water.
Make a solution of either of these combinations and soak your fresh produce for about 5 minutes. Then swish it around in the solution a bit and rinse with cold water. If you have a brush, then for firmer fruits with skins, I would brush it while in the solution before rinsing.
However I do not recommend (personally) removing skins because much of the fiber resides there. Just clean it best you can!
